Rescheduled from Friday 5 July Parent and Baby screening.

Oscar-nominated comedy from acclaimed director Alexander Payne, The Holdovers follows a curmudgeonly instructor (Paul Giamatti) at a New England prep school who is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. Eventually he forms an unlikely bond with one of them - a damaged, brainy troublemaker (newcomer Dominic Sessa) - and with the school’s head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance, stating in her acceptance speech:
“For so long I have always wanted to be different and now I realise I just needed to be myself, and I thank you for seeing me,” she said.

Randolph dominated this year's awards season with a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice Award, a BAFTA and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role as the cafeteria manager at the New England school - so come see for yourself her winning performance!

Parent and Baby screening
Friday 6 December 12pm

A monthly screening exclusively for parents/carers with babies under 12 months. Babies can sleep, burble or cry – and parents/carers get a chance to catch up with some cinema. Babies go free! These screenings include Descriptive Subtitling when available and the sound will be lower than usual, and the lights up for your child's comfort.

We have started these screenings due to popular demand, however the cinema is not accessible for buggies due to our steep staircase therefore, and so all parents are kindly asked to bring their babies in a sling for the screenings as we have no buggy park or lift access. Please take special care on the stairs.

"Finally, an independent cinema in Hastings that shows films for parents where you can bring your baby, have a hot chocolate and enjoy the latest releases. Thank you Electric Palace for making us so welcome!" - Trina Everall

Please note that babies (under 12 months) are only allowed to attend our special Parent & Baby and Relaxed screenings, and may not be brought in to our regular screenings. Please see our Terms of Admittance.

If you're part of a local parent group and would like to discuss our upcoming Parent and Baby screenings with us and would like to get involved, please send us a message.
