After seeing Apocalypse Now on Saturday night, find out how some of the magic and madness of making Apocalypse Now was created!
The famous companion piece to the classic film, documenting the sensational events surrounding the making of Apocalypse Now (1979)' and Francis Ford Coppola's struggle with nature, governments, actors, and self-doubt. Includes footage and sound secretly recorded by Eleanor Coppola, wife of Francis.
This is the archetypal filmmaker's 'moments of doubt' documentary and was given the alternative title of 'Watch Francis Suffer' by Francis himself. Publically disagreeing with his portrayal, Coppola initially refused to release the documentary on DVD but was finally released on DVD in 2010, with an optional Coppola commentary track in the "Full Disclosure" Blu-ray edition.
Allegedly Marlon Brando refused to be interviewed because he was still owed £2 million however the filmmakers reshot interviews with Martin Sheen, Dennis Hopper, Laurence Fishburne and other cast members to offer a retrospective take on what was the marathon film shoot of a lifetime.
