Join us for a seminal work in horror cinema, with Brian De Palma's adaptation of Stephen King's debut novel. The film follows Carrie White, a shy, bullied high school girl with a devoutly religious mother, who discovers she has telekinetic powers. De Palma masterfully juxtaposes the ordinary horrors of teenage life with the supernatural, using dynamic camera techniques, split screens, and an iconic score to heighten tension.
Sissy Spacek’s haunting performance as Carrie and Piper Laurie’s portrayal of her fanatical mother earned both actresses Academy Award nominations, a rare achievement for the horror genre!
Carrie not only cemented De Palma’s reputation as a master of suspense but also established the film as a cultural touchstone, influencing countless works in both horror and teen drama.
