Executive produced by Taika Waititi (Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Jojo Rabbit) and directed and scripted respectively by husband and wife team Curtis Vowell and Sophie Henderson (Fantail), Baby Done is a pleasingly deadpan, tremendously charming romantic comedy about one couple’s response to imminent parenthood.

When awkward New Zealander Zoe (Edinburgh Comedy Award winner comedian Rose Matafeo) and her sensitive British boyfriend Tim find out they are having a baby, they resolve to not let parenthood change them – yet almost immediately, it does. Powered by Matafeo’s amiable, engaging performance and her laid-back chemistry with the equally likeable Lewis, Sharply scripted, the film elicits both laughs and feeling as it moves confidently between comedy and drama, following a couple whose specific path to parenthood flips typical gender roles on their heads.

Baby Done is a knockout indie comedy for 2021 and keenly introduces Matafeo as a bold rib-tickler on the silver screen.
