Wolfgang Presents a relaxed screening of LESBIAN SPACE PRINCESS. Set in a gaylaxy far, far away, Emma Hough Hobbs and Leela Varghese’s debut is an animated sapphic sci-fi romp for adults and a colourful quest for queer self-love.
A 23-year-old with extreme self-esteem issues, Princess Saira (Shabana Azeez) has been dumped by her daredevil girlfriend Kiki (Bernie Van Tiel) for being too needy. Oh no! Her sulking takes a turn when Kiki calls with a cry for help: She’s been kidnapped by a ghastly misogynist group known as the Straight While Maliens – forgotten incels of the future.
The ransom? One of the most powerful weapons known to lesbian kind. The only problem is, Saira doesn’t have it…
Lesbian Space Princess trails Saira’s odyssey through the galaxies (travelling aboard the sentient ‘Problematic Ship’) to save her girl, from life-threatening missions to meeting gay-pop idols.
The result is a poppy, laugh-out-loud crowd-pleaser, an animated queer comedy slash musical that won the Teddy Award at this year’s Berlin Film Festival.
A relaxed screening is where people can watch a film in a relaxed environment. The lights are low instead of completely off, so you can still see where you're going. The volume is a little lower than a standard screening and you can move around the cinema freely as you wish during the screening. You can leave the cinema room during the screening and return without having to worry. You can make noise, stim, and enjoy yourself.
There is a friendly atmosphere and there are people around if you need any help. These screenings are for anyone who would feel safe and welcome there. At Electric Palace, we think the cinema should be for everyone, that's why we offer relaxed screenings.
Also, in partnership with Aspens' Roebuck Enterprises* we are able to provide 10 FREE parking spaces available from 2pm - 6pm for monthly relaxed screening customers on a first come first served basis. Email Paula.Taylor@aspens.org.uk to request yours.
*Aspens' Roebuck Enterprises in Hastings offers a variety of creative and skills workshops for people on the autism spectrum, providing development and enjoyment and the opportunity to sell their products - including the delicious artisan cake we serve each week at The Electric Palace.
