My Order

Pride (15)

The true, 80s-set story of the unlikely alliance between gay and lesbian activists and striking miners. Uplifting, smart and with sharp period detail. With Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton and Paddy Considine.

In the summer of 1984, a group of LGBT activists decide to raise money to support the National Union of Mineworkers during their lengthy strike. But there’s an issue: the NUM appears to be reluctant to take up the support. This culture-clash crowd-pleaser is joyous, uplifting, but never overly sentimental.

“ I laughed, I cried, and frankly I would have raised a clenched fist were both hands not already occupied wiping away the bittersweet tears of joy.” Mark Kermode, The Guardian
