Re: A Pier + Director's Q&A + Sex Pistols After Party (PG)

We celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Sex Pistols playing on Hastings Pier with a special screening of Hastings Own Archie Lauchlan's film, capturing the dramatic, culturally rich history of Hastings’ beloved pier and the people who love it. Featuring interviews with those who performed and saw shows on the pier, from comedian Jo Brand, Sex Pistol Glen Matlock and NME journalist David Quantick. relationships that form the spine of this life-affirming documentary.

As well as the usual fish ’n' chips day out, Hastings pier turned rock ’n' roll at night. From the 1950s to the 2000s, British pop royalty – Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, the Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, T-Rex, The Sex Pistols and The Clash, plus superstar DJs Carl Cox, Jon Digweed and Sasha – played the ballroom.

BAFTA Award-winning director Archie Lauchlan moved to Hastings in 2006 and decided to start documenting the run-down, quirky pier. Two weeks later, it closed down, and in 2010 it was very nearly destroyed by fire. Through all this, and the community-led struggle to save and rebuild it, for 10 years he persevered and carried on documenting the Pier, all the way up to its reopening in 2016.

The film will be followed by director's Q and A and Sex Pistols after-party.
