Strange Frames presents a deeply personal essay film that delves into the topic of post partum psychosis, informed by director Elizabeth Sankey's experiences with anxiety and depression following the birth of her son.
Harnessing an archive of film clips from classics including Häxan, The Witchfinder General, The Craft, Suspiria and The Wizard of Oz, Sankey explores how cultural representations of witches echoes more troubling societal ideas of femininity, motherhood, and mental illness.
The film will be introduced by the director, Elizabeth Sankey.
