Based on Kumail Nanjiani’s real life relationship, this is a truly remarkable story that is at once funny, intelligent and heartfelt. Pakistan-born Chicago Uber driver Kumail is struggling to get his career as a comedian off the ground when he meets grad student Emily (Zoe Kazan) and the two fall for one another. However, their blossoming relationship soon comes under threat from Kumail’s traditional parents, who want to arrange a Pakistani bride for their son. When Emily suddenly becomes ill Kumail strikes up an unlikely bond with her concerned parents.
