Meet Coffin Club's Kate Dyer and Kate Tym
99 Mins / 2016 / India, Subtitles

Winner of the UNESCO award at Venice Film Festival, young talent Shubhashish Bhutiani's debut feature Hotel Salvation is a charming drama about a father and son as they try to navigate through complexities of family life.

Following a prophetic dream, 77 year-old Daya (Lalit Behl) announces that his time has come and demands to travel to the sacred ghats of Varanasi to achieve salvation in his final days. His overworked son Rajiv (Adil Hussain) finds himself roped into accompanying him to Mukti Bhawan (Hotel Salvation) where Daya finds a new lease of life among the residents of this last stop hostel.

“An arthouse take on the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” (Screen International), Hotel Salvation is a story of equal parts wry wit and tenderness.

About Coffin Club Q&A:

Kate Dyer and Kate Tym are Independent Funeral Celebrants, who have launched the UK's first Coffin Club in Hastings. They will be at each of our Hotel Salvation screenings to discuss the club and the topic of death.

Coffin Club is a safe space for people to come and talk about death and plan their perfect send-off.  There are very few rules around funerals, you can do pretty much whatever you like, the Kates say but they're determined to get the nation talking about death and to bury the old taboos. "Our mission is to make every funeral as unique and fitting for the person who's died as possible," they say. "We love a good funeral!"

Coffin Club is held weekly at St Mary in the Castle, Hastings. Visit Kate and Kate's website for more information about Coffin Club.
