The Electric Palace's Dear Future Film Festival curators, Clare Whistler and Rebecca E Marshall, present ‘Heart of a Dog’ as a beautiful example of how we put together all the little moments that make up our lives. We think about how we choose to tell our stories as a process of forgetting and remembering.
The film centres on Laurie Anderson's beloved rat terrier Lolabelle, who died in 2011. She weaves together childhood memories, video diaries, philosophical musings on data collection, surveillance culture and the Buddhist conception of the afterlife, and offers heartfelt tributes to the artists, writers, musicians and thinkers who inspire her.
The magical soundtrack features Laurie Anderson's former husband (before his death in 2013), Lou Reed.
