Velvet jackets and black lace gloves at the ready, we’re taking a trip to a haunted mansion, with Guillermo del Toro’s sumptuous gothic tale Crimson Peak. Mia Wasikowska stars as Edith, a highly intelligent and restless young woman feeling stifled by the expectations of 1880s New York society.
Seeing a chance for escape, Edith marries the charismatic British aristocrat Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston) and is swept away to his crumbling ancestral home in Cumberland. But their romance is complicated by Thomas’ alluring yet manipulative twin sister, Lady Lucille (Jessica Chastain), who seems to be guarding dark secrets.
Upon experiencing ghostly visions, Edith begins to unravel the Sharpe family’s mysteries and becomes suspicious that her new husband is not what he appears to be…

Originally marketed as a straight up horror, it was always conceived by Guillermo del Toro as a romance as well as a ghost story. Edith is a gothic heroine for the ages, a female lead with agency, who fearlessly chases her own desires and uses her wits to survive.
With its magical dark red interior, the Electric Palace is the perfect setting in which to experience this gorgeous movie. Featuring lavish production design, hallway-roaming ghouls, and just the right amount of knowingly camp fun, it is the ultimate Halloween watch!"
