Coastal Currents Enter the dragon art exhibition launch

Bram Stoker's classic of 19th-century gothic fiction, directed by Francis Ford Coppola is a dizzy tour of movie-making that has been specially chosen for tonight's Coastal Currents launch event to illustrate the power of film as art.
Taking James V. Hart's unusually faithful screen adaptation of the novel, Coppola has created his own wild dream of a movie, which looks as if it required a special pact with the Treasury Department to finance. With its gorgeous sets and fabulous costumes by Eiko Ishioka and the film's hallucinogenic special effects and mad montages, this "Dracula" transcends camp to become a testimonial to the glories of filmmaking as an end in itself.
This special screening will be introduced by artist and horror film buff Ania Goszczyńska, to launch her Coastal Currents art exhibition at the Electric Palace: ENTER THE DRAGON.
About Ania Goszczynska
Ania was born in Warsaw, Poland, and studied at the Academy of Arts there, gaining an MA in Design. However, with time, her focus shifted to visual art and illustration. She moved to Hastings in 2016, and lives in the Old Town with her partner David Tibet and their 3 cats.
Inspired equally by pop kitsch and mediæval art, horror films and fairytales, Ania creates stark images with strong contrasts. In this exhibition, inspired by the beautiful interior of The Electric Palace Cinema, Ania presents artworks and posters inspired by her favourite films and film characters.
This is her first art show at the Electric Palace as part of our Coastal Currents launch event. Prints are all available for sale in the cinema. Come early to see the show and meet the artist.
