January closure 2022

Cinema to close this month - we need your support if we are to reopen in February.

It is with huge sadness that we must close our doors for January.

We will aim to reopen for Valentine's Day with a screening of Casablanca on February 14th and we hope we may be able to resume normal screenings later this year depending on if we are able to secure funding.

Unfortunately, after a terrible December that usually carries us through the quieter months of January and February, we are left in rather a disastrous situation. There have not been enough ticket bookings for January to make the screenings financially viable for this coming month, due to the understandable concerns that affect us all regarding the ongoing Covid variant.

Without your support we will not be able to reopen the cinema for 2022, its 20th anniversary.

Hire the cinema in January and February:

We are open during January and February for private bookings as normal (and for our regular Punk Choir and Burlesque classes), and there are additional evening slots for private hires available (Thursday to Sunday) on a first come first serve basis throughout our closure.

We encourage you to support the cinema and our staff by booking a slot for your friends and family, and spreading the word of this limited opportunity. The space is perfect for parties, school events, birthdays and even weddings!

We hope to be able to reopen with a full schedule of screenings later this year, but in the meantime we will be running a selection of one-off screenings and fundraisers:

Sunday 20 February, 7.30pm: Father Came Too! - with special guests, actress Sally Smith and Dr Adrian Smith, film historian

Friday 25 February, 7.30pm: Rough Cut and Ready Dubbed - Printed Matter bookshop presents a book launch of Tony Fletcher's 'Jamming!' plus Q&A with DJ Wendy May!
