Our latest art exhibition in the cinema is now live!
See the Montague Armstrong show 'Cinema Cats' before every public cinema screening during Coastal Currents this September. Doors open 30 mins before each screening time, so pop in to have a look around.
About the exhibition
A 1903 British silent directed by GA Smith from the 'Brighton School' shows two children tending to a sick kitten; the starting point for a new series of original art of cats and kittens made by Montague Armstrong of 15 Kings Road.
Original monoprints, bold and vibrant, made in an experimental process based on etching and using imagery in the spirit of a golden age of family matinees, inspired by film Czech and Polish film posters and creative expressions of children's cinema during the Soviet era.
You can buy the Montague Armstrong one-off monoprints cinema cat artworks at the cinema - just ask at the bar. All works are 100 cm x 70cm unless stated.
- £180 framed (with acrylic glass).
- £120 print/artwork mounted on board to B1 for framing.
Artworks can be taken at the end of the exhibition in late September, or collected in October from Montague Armstrong print workshop 07593 798623.
