Waters’ second film after going legit with 1988’s anti-racist doo-wop masterpiece Hairspray, Cry-Baby sees DIY trash-merchant John Waters working on an even larger canvas.

Set in 50s Baltimore it tells of the forbidden love between Cry Baby Walker (a beyond-beautiful Johnny Depp), a juvenile delinquent, and Allison Vernon-Williams, a straight. Their star-crossed romance infuriates both the freaks and the squares.
