Hardware: From Book to Screen + Q&A with Trix Worrell & Piers Bizony

Hardware is the cult-classic cyberpunk thriller you have to see! A gritty, British post-apocalyptic sci-fi horror film directed by Richard Stanley with screenplay written by Hastings' Own Trix Worrell. The plot follows a sculptress trapped in her high-rise apartment when a deactivated government cyborg (the Mark 13) rebuilds itself using scrap metal and household tools, initiating a violent, relentless rampage. The cult-classic cyberpunk thriller is celebrated for its claustrophobic atmosphere, industrial aesthetic, and iconic rock and roll cameo appearances by Iggy Pop and Lemmy. It explores heavy themes of environmental collapse, authoritarian population control, and passive acceptance of technology in a highly irradiated wasteland.

This Hastings Book Festival event includes live Q and A with screenwriter Trix Worrell and Robots on Screen author Piers Bizony. We dare you to miss it!
