Nuts in May 50th Anniversary Screening (PG)

Screen, Saturday 16 May 2026, 19:30  - ends at 20:54

The 29th May at 3pm showing is a Knitflix Cinema presentation, inviting crafters and knitters to enjoy a relaxed 'lights-up' screening of the latest new releases and fashion based films in the cosy comfort of the Electric Palace this winter. Co-curated by Beryl Bailey in partnership with Flock knitting and wool shop based in St Leonards.

Director Mike Leigh’s iconic tale of camping holidays and all the hazards involved turns 50! Their Morris packed to the gills, the punctilious Keith and the more spontaneous Candice Marie arrive at a Dorset campground for ten nights of idyllic bliss.

It starts off pretty perfectly; it's peaceful, they go sightseeing, eat vegetarian food and go in search of raw milk. Then a camper with a loud radio pitches his tent near theirs.

Things get worse when a couple arrive on a motorcycle, make noisy love in their tent and start an illegal campfire. Will Keith and Candice Marie find a peaceful corner or are they doomed to brawl with the noisy and unwashed?

49th in the British Film Institute's list of the 100 Greatest British Television Programmes. Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer chose the film to end At Home with Vic and Bob (1993), an evening of programmes scheduled by the duo.
