Legend: A Tribute to Tim Curry (PG)

Screen, Sunday 6 Dec 2026, 15:00  - ends at 16:40

Many film fans were blindsided by the passing of stage and screen ‘legend’ Tim Curry last month only a day after Dolly Parton (our November Remembrance Sunday) crossed the rainbow bridge. Unforgettable as Dr. Frank ‘N’ Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, devilishly playful in Clue, and terrifying as Pennywise in the original IT, Curry’s versatility was boundless. Yet one of his most striking roles remains lower in his list of credits and that is as The Lord of Darkness in Ridley Scott’s Legend.

Legend is a Tangerine Dream scored fantasy, also starring Tom Cruise and Mia Sara as young, enchanted lovers. But when Curry’s Lord wishes to cast earth into eternal darkness the horns of the last unicorns are required, and this results in tragic trickery that can only be overridden by true love and sacrifice. A visual treat, Legend is now widely regarded as a cult classic and demands to be seen on a big screen, so seize this opportunity!

Remembrance Sunday celebrates the life and craft of a recently passed cinematic legend. On the first Sunday of each month, we pay tribute to those who have made an impact in front of or behind the camera, and whose work has inspired audiences and helped to shape modern cinema. Devised and introduced by Ilona Cheshire, International Film Festivals and Programme Consultant.
