Screen, Thursday 10 Sep 2026, 19:30  - ends at 21:01

Exhibition on Screen's cinematic celebration of arguably Britain's most popular artist, focussing on his 2012 and 2016 RA exhibitions.

To celebrate the life of exceptional artist David Hockney, the Exhibition on Screen 2017 film is returning to UK cinemas for a limited run.

Widely considered Britain’s most popular artist, David Hockney is a global sensation with exhibitions in London, New York, Paris and beyond, attracting millions of visitors worldwide. Featuring intimate and in-depth interviews with Hockney, this revealing film focuses on two blockbuster exhibitions held in 2012 and 2016 at the Royal Academy of Art in London.

Director Phil Grabsky secured privileged access to craft this cinematic celebration of a 21st century master of creativity.

"Sad news of the death of a great artist - David Hockney. I think the term 'great' gets thrown about a bit liberally these days but Hockney, for me, is deserving of the plaudit. One of his paintings (a copy) was on the wall of my school so he has been a presence all of my life. I am delighted we got to make a film about and with him. A life lived to the full in art", Director Phil Grabsky.

With introduction by Louisa and Simon from Hastings Contemporary for the 7.30pm screening on Thursday 10th September only.
