The World of Silent Film with Pamela Hutchinson - Sunday 16th June

The Electric Palace Cinema, Hastings, is proud to announce a special event focusing on silent cinema - The World of Silent Film with Pamela Hutchinson.

On Sunday 16th June 2013 "the authority on silent movies in the UK"*, Pamela Hutchinson, will be taking cinemagoers on a lively journey through the early years of cinema, as she picks out the best classic and forgotten clips from the silent film world. A Q&A will follow the talk.

What you'll see

pamela-hutchinson.jpg“We'll take a look back to the beginnings of cinema, and before. We'll witness the heights of silent film style and how that distinctive look continues to influence modern movie-making,” says Pamela Hutchinson.

You’ll find out how cinema grew from simple moving pictures to full-blown features; hear about pioneering female film-makers; see examples of early colour film; and learn about the most exciting, innovative era of British cinema - and all of it silent.

“I'll be talking about the first British film-makers, based right here in Sussex, who made landmark films and even some of the first movie cameras, which they sold to film-makers across the world - as well as developing one of the world's first colour film processes,” Hutchinson explains.

Where better to celebrate the highlights from our rich heritage of silent movies than in the Electric Palace? Its vintage ambience will help transport you back to the heyday of silent film. Sunday 16th June 2013 is also Father’s Day - a perfect treat for film-loving Fathers!
