L Shaped Room.jpgAs part of a touring programme of early 1960s cinema to complement BERG, a free exhibition at the University of Brighton Gallery (22 Nov - 20 Dec), we will be showing L Shaped Room.

The film tells the tale of a young French woman, pregnant and unmarried, who takes a room in a seedy London boarding house, inhabited by an assortment of misfits.

Guest intro before the film

There will be an introduction to the screening by Steve Chibnall, Professor of British Cinema at De Montfort University. A leading expert in the field of British Cinema, he is author of ‘The British ‘B’ Film.

BERG celebrates the 50th anniversary of Ann Quin’s brilliant debut novel called Berg, and is presented by CINECITY The Brighton Film Festival.

This project is supported by Film Hub South East with National Lottery funds distributed by the BFI Film Audience Network (FAN).
