U / John Schlesinger / 1967 / Far From the Madding Crowd / UK

Julie Christie stars in this adaptation of Thomas Hardy's 19th-century story of a woman's passion. She becomes romantically involved with three men: handsome and wayward soldier Frank (Terence Stamp); prosperous gentleman William (Peter Finch); and ever-patient shepherd Gabriel (Alan Bates).
