It is estimated there were 36,000 African elephant deaths in 2013.

A new project from our film quiz host Thom Kofoed aims to replace each and every elephant with a piece of elephant artwork.

"We are Elephant Advocates raising awareness of this situation, not only for the elephants of Africa, but on behalf of elephants worldwide" says Thom Kofoed, about the project he co-runs with local writer Zelly Restorick.

"Elephants do not have their own voice or their own choice within the human system," Thom continues.

The estimated African Elephant deaths figure is as a result of poaching, loss of habitat or Human-Elephant conflict.

Get involved

Thom and Zelly aim to replace each and every one of the 36,000 elephants with an elephant drawing, a sculpture, a painting, a story, a poem, a film or any form of creative elephant expression. And they'd love you to submit your own artwork to the project.

One of the featured elephant paintings is the painting above, by Wahyu Ramandha Putro, from Indonesia. You can see all of the latest artworks on the Elephant for Elephant blog, and like the project on Facebook

"Every like makes a difference and it feels great to be changing the world, I promise" says Thom. "And we want your help."
